Every year, technology changes and new tech gadgets are introduced to the public. Despite the economic downturn of 2008, consumers can expect to see innovations for all of their personal technological needs in 2009, from cell phones to laptop computers. Solid state technology will be used to create lighter, quieter tech gadgets with more memory capability in the coming year. Below is a list of some of the places this technology appears.
The Flip Mino HD Camcorder is one of the places where this new technology shows up. Considered the smallest camcorder, this pocketsize tech gadget holds up to 60 minutes of footage and even displays in widescreen. It boasts high resolution video with no glare and crisp sound. This devise can even be designed according to consumers' wishes. In order to learn about the different features that the camcorder offers and find out where this device can be obtained both online and in stores, visit the Flip Mino's official website at http://www.theflip.com/index_flip.shtml.
The Canon VIXIA HF11 video camera is another device offering new technological advances. Like the Flip Mino, it is smaller than the standard video camera and fits in the palm of the hand, making it lighter and easier to carry around. The VIXIA HF11 records in high definition, and a tape, DV-R, or hard drive is not needed to use this product. Instead, the camera uses SD memory cards and can record up to three hours of footage. It is still pretty expensive at $800. However, individuals interested in this high tech gadget can purchase it at Amazon.com.
Cell phones will also be lighter and have more memory in 2009. Nokia N97 phone has build-in GPS sensors and complete Internet access. This flat phone is an all-purpose device, with the ability to automatically update social networks. Users of this tech gadget will be able to chat, blog, and send and receive e-mails on their phone. This phone is also a music device, so consumers won't need an additional gadget like an IPod. Camera and recording technology on this phone will also be better. No longer will individuals have to put up with blurry images common with many cell phones. Their pictures and video are high resolution and can be stored in the memory of the phone. The Nokia N97 and other cell phones can be purchased at Amazon.com.
The ASUS EEE PC 100H is the latest in the latest in mini notebooks. It has many of the same features as other notebooks. Two key differences between this tech gadget and its predecessors are that it has a larger screen, 10 inches, and the keyboard is more spacious. These amenities give it an advantage over other notebooks. Users can place two windows side by side on the wider screen. This is especially useful if an individual has a job comparing two document. There is nothing more annoying than having to minimize and maximize window all the time. Another aspect of the new notebook is the stereo sound it produces. The downside of the ASUS EEE PC 100H is that it is at $200 more than other notebooks. Amazon.com offers a few bargains for this product.
The Laptop OX is not only a technological innovation in 2009, but it is a way to be charitable as well. This computer is the most versatile of any previous laptop and specifically built with education in mind. The technology industry and academics worked together to design this computer to be adaptable to extreme environments. Anyone who has a laptop knows that most of them require a cool area to work properly. This tech gadget, however, will work properly in hot and humid temperatures and in direct sunlight. It has built-in wireless, giving it the ability to work anywhere. Plus, for every Laptop OX purchased on Amazon.com, an additional computer will sent to a child from a developing country.
The basic trend in 2009 will be lighter tech gadgets with more memory and the ability to adapt to almost any circumstances. Additionally, although many of them still have a large price tag, most of the prices for everything from cell phones to computers are expected to fall as the year progresses. Like most devices, it is better to buy them later in the year than to buy them when they are hot off the assembly line.

PANASONIC INTRODUCES TOUGHBOOK F9 BUSINESS-RUGGED LAPTOP
World’s Lightest 14” Class Laptop Delivers Desktop Performance with Intel Core i5 Processor
Secaucus, NJ, June 9, 2010 – Panasonic Solutions Company, provider of collaboration, information-sharing and decision-support solutions for government and commercial enterprises, today introduced the thin-and-light Toughbook F9 business-rugged laptop. The new device weighs in at a mere 3.6 pounds, making it the industry’s lightest 14” class laptop. The Toughbook F9 features an Intel® Core™ i5 processor, 320GB HDD, high resolution (1440 x 900) widescreen display, optional Qualcomm Gobi2000™ mobile broadband and an integrated handle. Highly mobile professionals will also benefit from the Toughbook brand’s legendary reliability.
Core i5 Performance
The Toughbook F9 includes a standard voltage 2.40GHz Intel Core i5-520M vPro™ processor with Turbo Boost Technology (delivering speeds up to 2.93GHz) and has Intel Anti-theft and vPro technologies to improve hardware-assisted security and manageability capabilities that enhance IT’s ability to maintain, manage, discover, heal and protect networked computing assets.
The new device, which delivers up to seven hours of battery life, also features a high resolution (1440 x 900) 14.1” WXGA+ widescreen display with LED backlighting and a DVD multi-drive.
Embedded Mobile Broadband Options
The Toughbook F9, like all Toughbook mobile computers, helps maximize mobile productivity through a variety of embedded wireless technologies. The device combines the latest Intel WiFi chipset (Intel Centrino® Advanced-N 6200 AGN) and Bluetooth® v2.1 +EDR, with an option for WiMAX (4G) or Gobi2000™ (3G) mobile broadband technology from Qualcomm. Gobi2000 simplifies multi-carrier wireless deployments for IT departments and allows a company’s mobile workforce improved connectivity options while traveling at home or abroad and adds GPS capabilities for easy integration with mapping software.
“Mobile workforces need the type of desktop-class performance offered by Intel’s Core i5 processors to maximize productivity,” said Kyp Walls, director of product management, Panasonic Solutions Company. “But performance is useless if your laptop can’t survive the bumps, drops and spills experienced by highly mobile professionals. The Toughbook F9 marries a high performance Intel processor with industry-leading light weight, long battery life, mobile connectivity and unrivaled reliability to deliver a best-in-class mobile computing solution.”
Business-Rugged Reliability
The new Toughbook® F9 business-rugged notebook successfully survived drops of 30” (just over the typical height of a desk or table) to the base of the unit while operating. Further, using Mil-Spec methodology, the device also survived 26 drops (to every side, corner and face) from 12” to a non-yielding surface.
The unique Panasonic spill-resistant keyboard design protects against liquid spills of nearly 7 ounces (200 cc), and both the lid and base of the device are designed to withstand more than 220 lbs (100 Kg) of compression. In addition, Panasonic’s commitment to quality—at both the component and finished goods level—results in a total of more than 500 checks and tests during and after production plus 100% burn-in testing.

Panasonic is a Japanese multinational corporation, whose main business is in electronics manufacturing and produces various products which now include laptops and gadgets. In recent years, they have invented a series of laptops called “Toughbook” which are rugged laptop computers primarily destined to withstand vibration, drops, spills, extreme temperature, and other rough handling.
Their main goal in creating this product is for military, law enforcement and heavy industrial users. However, these series became too bulky until recently when it launched its Toughbook F9. This time it outdid itself by sporting a 14.1-inch laptop with a 3.6 pound light weight. The specifications include a Genuine Windows 7 with XP downgrade option; an Intel Core i5-520M vPro Processor (2.4 GHz with Turbo Boost up to 2.93 GHz); a 320GB shock-mounted, flex-connect, removable HD; 2GB RAM or DDR3-1066MHz expandable to 6GB; 14.1″ widescreen sporting 1440 x 900 high resolution display WXGA plus LCD with LED backlighting; Anti-glare screen; DVD Super MULTI Drive with Dual Layer Support; and up to 7 hour battery life.
It is also ruggedly handsome with a magnesium alloy case designed to withstand a 30″ operating base drop, 26 sides 12″ drop non-operating; 220 lb pressurized vibration and Spill-resistant keyboard equivalent to a protection against 7 ounces spills. For connectivity, it houses an Optional integrated WWAN / Gobi2000 mobile broadband, Optional WiMAX, Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 802.11a/b/g/, and Bluetooth® v2.1 + EDR (class 1). It has an Optional Integrated Security Features like Fingerprint reader and SmartCard reader.
Its specification is really awesome. With Genuine Windows 7, an Intel Core i5, 2GB RAM and a 320 GB hard drive, these aspects are one of the latest in technology. An optional XP downgrade, an expandable RAM up to 6GB and removable HD will prove to be very useful. The screen preferences are state-of the-art. A 7 hour battery life is just normal for a laptop. Also, an Anti-theft and vPro technologies to improve hardware-assisted security and manageability capabilities allows its users to maintain, manage, discover, heal and protect networked computing assets.
But what is most appealing is its ability to withstand drops, vibration and spills. Just don’t try damaging it on purpose! These are really what make Toughbooks real tough. The Toughbook is slated to come out in July 1, 2010 at an awfully high price of $2,899. But with all the good things it boasts of like having a big memory storage capacity, optional capabilities and durability, it’s surely worth the price.
Panasonic has released more details of its AG-AF100 professional Micro Four Thirds HD camcorder. It is capable of recording up to 12 hours of video using its two SDXC compatible slots. It might just be a terrible laptop battery life-wise, like mine, an Acer Aspire 5535 which I have had for less than a year and has a lifespan of about 2 hours after being fully charged.

sounds like the battery is shot, only thing you can do to fix it is buy a new one.
June 24th, 2010 at 12:19 am
For the average user, the battery is dead after around 1 to 2 years.
Time for a replacement battery.
June 24th, 2010 at 12:30 am
Most batteries last for 1-2 years, after that the batter gets damaged.
In most cases, such as my previous compaq laptop, the cause is that while you are using the laptop,it is being charged or plugged, that’s how the battery is damaged and how it’s life gets shorter.Try to avoid plugging the laptop (especially for a long time, such as the whole day while using it). Only charge it when it’s low on battery power. These are only ways though, to keep from damaging your battery, and there’s no way to fix it. You should buy a new battery, and keep these tips, then your battery should be fine.
Hope this helps!
