More children could have been sexually abused by a former Nottinghamshire Police officer, according to force officials.
At Derby Crown Court Darren Lawson, 44, of Charnwood Street, in the city, admitted 11 charges of indecent assault against three children.
Police are asking any other potential victims to come forward.
He did not use his position to carry out the offences, but has since resigned, the force said.
‘Dealt with vulnerable’
A spokesman added: “While these offences do not relate to Lawson’s role as a Nottinghamshire Police officer, and the investigation found no evidence of any offences other than those brought to light by his three victims, we cannot rule out the possibility that there are other victims who have not yet come forward.
“As a police officer, Lawson regularly dealt with vulnerable people, and I would urge anyone who has been affected by this to contact us.”
Police said the offences were committed over a nine-year period, from November 1990 until March 1999.
Lawson is due to be sentenced on 2 July.
