JVC Camcorder

While it is not the Apple MacBook Air at 13.3″ this is one of Apple's more portable notebooks. It uses the Intel's new Penryn, and is primarily designed just for portability. I have my hands on one and I'm going to let you know what it's loaded with as well as who will get the most out of this little notebook. Let me start with the basics.

Hardware:

2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 3 MB shared L2 Cache (Penryn)

RAM: 2GB (SDRAM DDR2)

Storage: 250GB Hard drive

Optical Drive: CD R/RW with integrated DVD +/- Dual layer Drive

Video Card: Integrated Intel X3100 graphics card (using 144MB of system RAM as video memory)

As I mentioned this MacBook was designed for portability and it is very compact. It is very light and it gets great battery life at around 4 hours on a charge. I attribute this largely to the utilization of the “penryn” processor. While it isn't as strong it does offer great battery life. It also stays fairly cool, so you'll be able to drop it down into sleep mode and keep it in your bag without being concerned with overheating.

The screen on this MacBook is average. It runs at a resolution of 1280 x 800 which is pretty standard for a laptop. If you used to Apple's “above and beyond” displays then you might be a little disappointed. The screen also tends to wash out in direct sunlight a little quicker than I would like. Other than that it does fine. I like the 2GB of RAM especially since it has to share with the integrated video card.

Connectivity:

Bluetooth (to sync with other Bluetooth compatible devices)

1 FireWire (to be used to transfer video from your digital camcorder for example)

2 USB 2.0 ports (these can be used to connect things like your printer, iPod, or digital camera)

1 DVI output (to connect to some TV's or Monitors)

1 VGA output (to connect to your standard monitor)

1 S-video output (you can use this to connect to some TV's but it will be used for projectors for the most part)

1 composite video output (requires adapters, sold separately)

It has a great selection of connectivity options I particularly like the composite video options. All of the outputs are on the left side which works well for the right handed mouse user, not so great for the left handed mouse user (but who does that anyway). I would like to also see an additional USB port.

In the end this is a great option for the mobile user. It isn't going to run graphically intensive games or going to render any advanced 3d graphics. It would be great for the office or student looking to get a lot of mobile work done with the excellent battery life. However in the end unless you're a diehard Apple user I think for the money I would turn to another manufacturer for what this notebook offers.

I have both, a desk top computer and a lop top also.The reason is I use computer almost all the time as its my hobby and also because its my profession. I travel a lot so while travelling I take my Sony laptop with me every where.I used to carry bundles of floppies with me all the time.I also use different computer accessories like adaptor,, USB Hub,disc ,and many other objects .These small things are quite helpful and handy even when we are travelling. As I mention the thing I used most of the time was floppies but I have replaced these floppy drive with latest technology which is USB Flash Drives.

First time I use USB flash drive when my computer's floppy drive was not working properly and it was producing errors in my computer when ever I tried to use it. I went to the store to replace it with new but an expert advised me to use USB Flash drive instead of using floppy drive .The USB Flash drive are safe to use. I took his advise and bought Sony USB Flash drive from the staples .Then I my self realised how important it is for me .I can not do anything without USB Flash drive now.

The drive from Sony is small in size, silver colour,2 GB (2000 MB, very spacious) . and very safe for my computer desk top as well as laptop. There is no need of any driver to install if working with Windows XP or higher., So safe also. I used to carry loads of Floppy disc with me all the time but since I bought Sony USB Drive life is much easier for I do not have to ,just one flash drive take the load of 700 floppies.

I do store all my data ,my important documents ,my pictures or any thing in it. Take it in my pocket every where. In short it acts as my third folder of my computer which is mobile also. Another thing I like to mention is the Sony drive came with a wire connections also .It can connect directly to the pc or laptop but if we want to make life more comfortable we can use its extra wire connection ..By connecting wire to the PC we can connect the flash drive and keep the flash drive on the table ,with in our reach
without the need of bending or moving from the chair.

Because it has large space I use loads of data at a time .Specially pictures take so much space but Sony USB Flash drive digest so may pictures at a time when I want to carry and print them
