A Product Review of the HP Pavilion DV6830US 15.4″ Laptop: A Mid Range Consumer Notebook

{Zähne selber bleachen – Tipps

The HP Pavilion DV9812US is marketed by HP as an entertainment notebook. With an exceptional screen clarity and strong performance is it too good to be true? With this review I'm going to decide if it lives up to the hype and what sort of notebook user can expect to get the most out of it. I'll start first by giving you the basics.

Hardware:

Display: 17″ LCD

Imaging: Integrated web cam

Processor: 64 2.0 GHz AMD Turion X2 TL-60 dual-core

RAM: 3 GB (with room for 4)

Storage: 250GB Hard Drive

Optical Drive: CD R/RW with integrated Dual layer DVD R +/- drive

Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 7150M

Demensions: 15.16″ x 11.22″ x 1.65″

Weight: 7.7lbs

Additonal Equipment Included: Remote control, earphones

Right out of the box the first thing I notice are the strange wave designs on the exterior. I'm not a huge fan of these new laptop designs that the manufactures are slapping on their notebooks. This one isn't as obtrusive but these designs tend to dull with normal usage. Once powering it on the 17″ WXGA BrightView screen looks amazing. HP's aren't typically known for their especially clear screens but this one is right on point. The resolution is higher than your typical notebook running at 1440×900. It has a solid video card and you notice it.

It does a great job watching movies or HD downloaded content. The 3GB of ram is adequate and I've had little trouble multitasking. I've had movies running in the background and flashy heavy pages in the foreground without this thing grinding to a halt. That also has a little to do with the nice 64 bit AMD that is powering this notebook. The HP Pavilion DV9812US does come with a remote control, but you should no its worthless unless you're watching a movie. And only then you need to be watching it in certain programs. You won't be able to use it for like youtube movies for example. It doesn't really bother me because I don't ever use these laptop remotes anyway, however if you're using this as a mini-entertainment center it might bother you.

Games of medium intensity run fine on this notebook. Most games in fact run fine on this notebook, although it wouldn't be the main reason I would purchase it.

Also it is bulky and heavy at about 8lbs. So this notebook isn't going anywhere to frequently unless you want to bulk up those back muscles. So don't expect to take this to all your classes. Well that's it for the performance let's get to the connection options the HP Pavilion DV9812US has.

Connectivity:

4 2.0 USB 2.0 inputs (You can use these to connect your MP3 player, printer, digital camera or whatever)

1 FireWire port (you can transfer video from your digital camcorder using this)

1 S Video (use this to connect to the projector in the office)

2 audio out and 1 mic in

5 in1 card reader (use this to insert the memory from your digital cameras or other portable devices like SD cards and memory sticks.)

1 Ethernet Jack

1 VGA (use this to connect to a standard computer monitor)

1 Modem Jack

Integrated b/g wireless (standard WiFi fare)

I like that it has the 4 USB ports (opposed to the standard 3) and they're placed in nice spots, nothing too intrusive (they're not going to interfere with any external mouse usage). A true sign of a multimedia notebook is the 2 audio out jacks. You'll probably want to use them because the speakers are subpar. Again that is especially if you're using this notebook as an entertainment center.

I foresee those that the ones most happy with the HP Pavilion DV9812US notebook are those that wouldn't mind having a desktop but need the desk space. Or maybe those that are in the office and need occasional mobility for work. Otherwise I would look for something a little lighter, which can easily be found without really reducing screen size too much. It has a lot of options that if you're interested in mobility you can just do without. Also the battery life isn't stellar on this notebook so don't expect to hit the road too hard with it.

Sony is one of the top selling notebook manufacturers in the market today. With notebooks out pacing desktop sales the mid range notebook is a highly competitive market. The economy is slowing and we're seeing stiff competition for consumers. It may be the time to strike but which notebook is right for you? I've got my hands on the Sony VAIO VGN-FZ240N/B 15.4″ Laptop and I'm going to let you know what its load with and what you can expect out of it. I'll start with some of the basics.

Hardware:

Imaging: Integrated Web Cam

Display: 15.4″ LCD

Processor: 2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7250

Storage: 250 GB hard drive (Serial ATA)

RAM: 2 GB RAM (expandable up to 4GB of RAM)

Optical Drive: A CD R/RW with integrated DVD +/- R RW dual layer DVD burner

OS: Windows Vista Business

Weight: 5.75 lbs

This is a good midrange entry from Sony. I like that the body is made of a Magnesium alloy, it really feels sturdy to the touch and stays very cool. It is fairly light weight for a 15″ notebook and has a good low profile. The battery life however seems to be about average.

The good news though is that it is a fairly powerful notebook. The 2.0ghz T7250 is a great processor and enables the user to do a great deal of multitasking. The video card is integrated and derives it's video memory from the system memory, so the 2GB of RAM gets a little stretched. You'll be able to play medium intensity games, but don't expect to crank up the graphics to 11 and see smooth rendering. Though since it is a mid range notebook I hope that no one intends on doing that anyway.

The storage space is good, you can get about as many songs and movies as I would expect you would need at one time on the 250GB drive. That being said I would immediately clear out much of Sony's preinstalled trial ware. Much of it runs in the system tray or background and slows things down. Many of the programs don't even offer much that isn't already included in Windows Vista to begin with. It is just a nuisance and Sony is notorious for it.

Connectivity:

3 2.0 USB (use these to connect your digital camera, iPod, or printer)

1 FireWire (to connect to a digital camcorder and download your digital home movies)

1 VGA output (output to a standard monitor)

1 S-Video (output to a projector or supported TV)

ExpressCard

Memory Stick and SD card slots

Integrated WiFi

Integrated Blue tooth

Ethernet Port

Modem Port

The connectivity is standard and I see everything I expected. I think that it is clear that Sony was designing a very mobile device but trying to inject a little more power. I think they've succeeded; this notebook remains mobile but has a great processor and large hard drive. This is almost the perfect notebook. This price is a little high but that's how Sony rolls. Unlike Apple however Sony will occasionally issue price reductions, so I would keep an eye on this one and look for it to dip in the summer when the market slows and the stimulus checks start to roll in.

This review will be looking at Fujitsu's P7230 ultraportable. This tiny system is part of a new crop of ultraportable's that use LED backlighting in order to get great display performance while maintaining a long battery life. That is the main technological achievement of the system but it is by no means all it has going for it. The P7230 is built on an ultra mobile platform that includes an Intel Core Solo U1400 processor, an optical drive, and a 10.6" display. This smaller format factor allows for a very light weight and great portability but limits the power of the system as well as aspects that affect usability, like the size of the keyboard.

Stay unplugged longer with the new FUJITSU LifeBook M2010 Li-ion Battery. This 10.8V Rechargeable Li-ion battery can replace the original system battery or be used as a spare. FUJITSU computer batteries life (and recharge times) will vary based on many factors including screen brightness, applications, features, power management, battery conditioning and other customer preferences.  http://www.laptop-batteries.com.au/fujitsu-computer-battery.htm

Fujitsu has dabbled in ultra-ultraportable machines for a while now, having released the LifeBook U810 and U820 tablet PCs. Now the company is ready to take baby steps into the netbook market, with its M2010. To be honest, though, this isn’t the bold move that Fujitsu should have–or could have–made.
Fujitsu’s M2010, according to company spokespeople, is geared a bit more toward kids. While not exactly child-size, the machine’s keys seem reminiscent of the keyboard on the 10-inch Acer Aspire One: a little on the smaller side, but with perfectly serviceable buttons (fujitsu fpcbp216ap computer batteires). At least the arrow keys are large on the M2010. And you’ll need them–though the touchpad has a nice, textured surface, its size is about average for a netbook. That’s hardly a crime, but since we’re seeing new netbooks (like the Toshiba NB205) crop up with larger touchpads, I’m greedy and I want to see more, if only for the sake of my aching hands.  http://www.cheap-laptop-batteries.com/laptop-battery/fujitsu-stylistic-st6012.htm
As for the screen, colors popped. Despite having the same screen size and glare-inducing coating as the Toshiba, and a slightly lower resolution (1024 by 576 pixels), the M2010 produced colors that seemed a little more vibrant and didn’t get lost in the shadows.

Overall, the design of the Fujitsu M2010 is uninspired. Its two-tone, hard-plastic case can be eye-catching, depending on the color you order (our flashy red unit drew a couple of double takes here at the office), but this 2.5-pound netbook doesn’t look much different from other models on the market. Its configuration–three USB ports (asus Eee PC 1101HA laptop battery), an SDHC card reader, a Webcam, one VGA-out, ethernet, and headphone and microphone jacks–is fairly standard, too.

Fujitsu doesn’t add much to the mix beyond Bluetooth and a few bits of bundled software. Roxio Creator LJ saves files out to external drives, as does the simple but extremely effective MyRecovery software (a three-button interface for creating and restoring system backups). Otherwise, you get the standard-issue Windows XP netbook experience (Microsoft Works, 60-day trial of Microsoft Office and all).   http://www.laptop-battery.org.uk/

The performance? Let’s just say that it’s fairly average in some cases. The guts of this wee PC vary little from those of most netbooks, consisting of a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB 5400-rpm hard drive. And with a score of 34 on WorldBench 6, it falls right in line with the performance of most current netbooks. The battery life dragged down its score the most. Fujitsu claims that the M2010’s three-cell battery hangs on for 2.5 hours, but it was more like 2 hours, 5 minutes in our tests. That’s a far cry from what we’ve seen from machines like the Samsung N110, which lasted for over 8 hours in the same test conditions.  http://www.cheap-laptop-batteries.com/laptop-battery/fujitsu-fpcbp208ap.htm
In the end, Fujitsu didn’t produce a bad machine–just a fairly average one. In a market already brimming with wannabes, I would have liked to see Fujitsu deliver more-daring designs, such as what it did with the U810, the U820, and the N7010 (which embedded a second touchscreen into an all-purpose portable). Plenty of other netbooks offer better performance for less. Might I suggest the Asus Eee PC 1008HA?

Product Review: Microsoft Notebook Cooling Base

    In My Bag by michaeljosh

    Roboter Staubsauger bei Amazon

I have an older model Dell laptop computer that gets really hot. Sometimes it becomes so hot to the touch that I cannot have it on my lap for fear of burning my skin. This heat really defeats the purpose and function of a notebook or laptop computer.

Since I did not want to invest money to purchase a newer computer, I decided to look into inexpensive cooling options. My purchase: Microsoft's slick new Notebook Cooling Base in hot pink.

    Notebook Cooling Base Specifications
The contoured cooling base is powered via a USB cable that you connect to your notebook or laptop computer. This cable makes the cooling base very portable, and I like not dealing with AC adapters or batteries. The device cools your computer via a single fan and an efficient cooling channel to draw the heat away.

The unit is very lightweight and thin. You can place your laptop or notebook computer directly onto the cooling base and set it on your lap to work without fear of overheating. Optionally, you can flip down the desk stand if you want to use the unit on a surface other than your lap. The top surface has 2 grippers so that your computer will not shift around. The unit base is black and contains the desk stand and 2 grippers.

    Width: about 11.4 inches
    Length: about 11.4 inches

Does the Notebook Cooling Base Work?
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Microsoft has created a cooling base that does work on my old laptop reliably. I have tested it over several weeks and multiple hours per day without a single heat-related crash. Before I used the cooling base, my laptop would crash due to heat at least once per day.

I highly recommend this cooling base for your notebook or laptop computer, particularly if you have an older model that is prone to overheating. It is comfortable, inexpensive, and very portable. I do not even hear the fan running so noise is not an issue with this device.

I tested my husband's MacBook on my new hot pink cooling base. Although he is not wild for my color choice, we did find that it could work for the MacBook. The MacBook is slightly wider than the base so it did overhang on each side. Although the MacBook does not suffer from a heating issue, the base was comfortable to use in both the lap and desktop positions.

Where to Purchase Microsoft's Notebook Cooling Base
I purchased my base at a local Target store for $24.99. I had a choice of a few different colors including black, silver, white, and pink. If your local Target store does not carry the notebook cooling base, you can preorder it from Amazon.com for $29.99 or search for a local retailer using your zip code on Microsoft's Hardware website.

In the early nineties few people could image the impact that notebook would have in the computer industry. Its unique portability made the notebook a product in a class by itself. Soon, it became a must-have product, to those who were constantly moving from office, home or school. Nowadays, it is one of the best selling computer hardware items of all times.

With a Notebook, you can carry your work around conveniently, without having to worry about the myriads of wires, hardware and space needed to keep a desktop. Also, you can choose whether to work from office or home. A Notebook is really handy in any situation.

Portability and mobility are the great advantages of having a Notebook, or laptop. In your Internet search prior to buying a Notebook, you will be presented with a great variety and quantity of information. This can be quite bewildering, so you have to know what features you need in a Notebook.

Upgradabeality is an important consideration: the Notebook you choose now may be the one best suited to your current needs; but in future, you may find it necessary to upgrade it. You will not want to invest valuable time and money in purchasing a Notebook which you will have to discard or sell off in the near future, because of what you might feel as the inadequacy of your current one. When you consider upgradabeality, you have to think of memory or RAM, and hard disk space.

The CPU, or Processor, is the engine which will drive your Notebook`s performance. So you should choose the fastest CPU that is available, depending on your budget and on what you will be using the Notebook for. Tasks like word processing, emailing and surfing the Net do not require a fast CPU. But using CPU intensive applications, such as processing spreadsheets or playing games will work better with a fast CPU.

The RAM, or memory is another important feature, and the more memory you have, the better. Your Notebook`s performance will be greatly affected if you do not have sufficient memory. The minimum recommended these days is 1 Gigabyte of memory. Some experts recommend a minimum of 2 Gigabytes. The more memory you have, the better the performance and multitasking you can expect from your Notebook.

The speed and capacity of the hard disk of your Notebook are important, for this is where you will install all your software and your data (documents, database, photos etc). Make sure that you have enough room to store all your information which can be readily accessed. 40 Gigabytes of hard disk space is considered the minimum these days. Consider getting a Notebook with 80 Gigabytes of disk space.

Do note that Apple Notebooks are now using Intel processors, which means that if you have a hard disk with sufficient disk space, you can partition your disk drive and install both Apple Mac software and Windows software, and switch between the two.

You also have to consider the screen of your Notebook, for this is what you are going to be staring at, and you have to be happy with its resolution and size. You will want a crisp, bright screen with good viewing, especially for photos. You can go and look at different screens at a local electronics store, and try to figure out which size and resolution you like best. Just be sure that the screen is an Active Matrix one and not Passive Matrix.

The other features you will be looking at to connect to your Notebook are external devices such as a mouse, printer, portable disk drive, scanner etc. Good luck!

“Sorry, to all of you that may b holding out hope of a return! I am done and have plenty to do! But, hope to stay involved with fb! we'll see,” Warner wrote @kurt13warner.

PFT reported Tuesday that because Warner was having trouble landing a TV job, he might consider a comeback.

    VAIO /VGN-FE41Z , Sony Laptop

Sony Laptop Fire 7 by Jonny Thirkill

    Acer Aspire D250 25

Design: The Sony VAIO VPC-EB13FXI comes with a 15 inch widescreen LCD which is just the right size that will fit most people needs. This is a nice size for people to watch videos and view images of their family and friends. The weight of the Sony VAIO VPC is 5.6 pounds which makes it great for traveling purposes when needed. When it comes to look on this Sony VAIO EB model, you would have to admit that it is pretty good looking. The palm rest had a great paint finish to it as well as nice classy touch. Once you open this laptop you will realize the nice side by side keyboard with isolated keys. To top it off the keyboard also comes with a numeric pad as well. While using the Sony VAIO EB keyboard I notice that the keyboard was very easy to use as well as comfortable. You can find the touchpad on the left center directly under the space bar. The mouse clicks isn't silent on this laptop but gives off a firm click sound when using. There is also a web key that comes with this laptop. What the web key does is enables the user to use the web browser to access the internet without the need to start Windows. I think this is a great feature which makes the user able to get some information from the web very quickly. It took approximately 23 seconds for the browser to come up. Using this laptop it will take approximately 86 seconds for Windows to load up. You will have the wonders of using the Sony Creative Suite. I find that this is an excellent program which can be used to edit photos, videos as well as music.

Features: This laptop comes with an Intel Core i5 430M processor which has the speed of 2.26 GHz. When it comes to space on the Sony VAIO VPC EB series this model has enough space; 500GB hard drive to be exact. This laptop also comes with the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD. This laptop also runs on the latest Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit edition.

You will enjoy the 15 inch widescreen that has the resolution of 1,366 by 768. This might not be the best resolution but it is good enough to watch some videos and movies on which will keep you busy for a while. The colors are very crisp and bright and are a beauty to look at. Now when it comes down to the sounding that comes with the VAIO laptop; there isn't anything to brag about. The speakers that come with the VAIO is lacking in the bass and volume area which make the speakers seem to be very weak. This laptop is also equipped with HDMI, VGA and eSATA ports. In the front of the VAIO; it has the microphone jacks, headphone jacks and the Wi-Fi button. On the right side of the Sony laptop you will locate the 3 USB ports and the DVD drive.

If you have purchase other Sony laptops in the past; you will know that Sony laptops comes with a variety of software. You will might not use or want all these software trials but I can admit that it can come in handy sometimes. Some of the trials that are offered on the VAIO VPC are Norton Internet Security, Microsoft Office Student, Microsoft Home, Microsoft Works SE, Rosy Easy Media Creator and Intuit QuickBooks.

If you purchase the Sony VAIO VPC laptop from Costco they will up a year on the standard 1 year warranty which will give you a nice 2 year warranty to go along with this laptop. Costco also offer the Concierge Services. For those of you which don't know what the Concierge Services; it is a service that give you access to technician help and troubleshooting. To add another plus to it; they will also offer give you the option to return the product within 90 days if you don't like it.

Performance: The performance on the Sony VAIO VPC EB is also pretty decent. I noticed that this laptop is great when it comes to handling multitasking. I will tell you upfront that this laptop isn't well designed for 3D gaming. The battery life span that comes with this laptop has the ability to last you for almost 4 hours. This laptop didn't stand well when it came down to the battery life span against its competitor which is the Asus UL50VF-A1.

From my point of view I see that the Sony VAIO VPC-EB13FXBI has the ability to fit the needs of those who are also doing multimedia tasks. If you like to edit photos, watch movies and other multitasking; this laptop is perfect for you.

Price: The price of the Sony VAI VPC EB falls in the price range of $800. The price could be cheaper if you know of sellers who tend to have great bargains on laptops.

Cons: Comparing this laptop to its competitors it falls behind when it comes down to the battery life span it comes with. Also the speakers on the Sony VAIO laptop are very weak, which I didn't like very well.

Pros: I was impressed with the performance of the Sony VAIO laptop. The design wasn't too boring, it was just right. If you purchase this laptop from Costco you will have the honors of having a 2 year warranty rather than the standard one year warranty.

Conclusion: If you are looking for a laptop that is great when it comes to multitasking and has great performance ability and has an affordable price than the Sony VAIO VP model might be perfect for you.

Replacement Laptop Battery For ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf

Specifications Part No: Eee PC 2G Surf Product ID: NAA034 Battery Type: Li-ion Volt: 7.4 V Capacity: 4400mAh Weight: 317.52g Dimension: 138.88 x 44.26 x 34.88mm Color: White Org. Price: AU $ 86.07 Promotion Price: AU $60.19 (inc. GST) ASUS Laptop Battery Articles & Tips

A new ASUS laptop battery comes in a discharged condition and must be charged before use (refer to the devices manual for charging instructions). Upon initial use (or after a prolonged storage period) the digital camcorder ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf may require three to four charge/discharge cycles before achieving maximum capacity. New ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf needs to be fully charged and discharged (cycled) a few times before it can condition to full capacity. Rechargeable batteries undergo self-discharging when left unused. Always store a Laptop Battery pack in a fully charged staged for storage. When charging the ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf for the first time the device may indicate that charging is complete after just 10 or 15 minutes. This is a normal phenomenon with rechargeable batteries. Remove the camcorder batteries from the device, reinsert it and repeat the charging procedure

It is important to condition (fully discharge and then fully charge) the ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf every two to three weeks. Failure to do so may significantly shorten the battery’s life (this does not apply to Li-ion batteries, which do not require conditioning). To discharge, simply run the device under the battery’s power until it shuts down or until you get a low battery warning. Then recharge the battery as instructed in the user’s manual. If the battery will not be in use for a month or longer, it is recommended that ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf be removed from the device and stored in a cool, dry, clean place.

Invest in a good charger for your camcorder. Ni-MH batteries should not be charged in a NiCad charger, unless the charger is specifically made for both chemistries. There are cheap chargers and there are expensive chargers. Make sure the charger you get has good reviews and is well made. Chargers with micro-controller chips are usually the best choice of your digital camcorder.

Be sure to store your Laptop Battery properly. Do not leave your batteries in a hot car, or in humid conditions. The best storage conditions are a cool, dry place. The refrigerator is fine if you stick in a packet of silica gel with your ASUS Eee PC 2G Surf in a sealed bag to keep them dry. It is a good idea to charge your NiCad or Ni-MH batteries fully before use if they have been in storage.

Upgrade my ASUS Laptop Battery From Ni-MH to Li-ion

NiCad, Ni-MH and Li-ion ASUS Laptop Battery is all fundamentally different from one another and cannot be substituted unless the Laptop has been pre-configured from the manufacturer to accept more than one type of battery chemistry. Please refer to your manual to find out which rechargeable battery types the laptop device supports or use our ASUS Battery Finder above to find all the compatible Laptop Battery for your device. It will automatically list all of the battery chemistries supported by your specific device. If your device does allow you to upgrade the battery from Ni-MH to Li-ion, you will typically get longer run time.

For example, if your Laptop uses a NI-MH battery that is 9.6 Volts, 4000mAh and the new Li-ion Laptop Battery is 14.4 Volt, 3600mAh, then you will obtain longer run time with the Li-ion battery.

    Example:

    Li-ion: 14.4 Volts x 3.6 Amperes = 51.84 Watt Hours
    Ni-MH: 9.6 Volts x 4 Amperes = 38.4 Watt Hours
The Li-ion is stronger and has longer run time.

How Can I Maximize the performance of My ASUS Laptop Battery?

There are several steps you can take to help you get maximum performance from your Laptop Battery:

Prevent the Memory Effect – Keep the Laptop Battery healthy by fully charging and then fully discharging it at least once every two to three weeks. Exceptions to the rule are Li-ion batteries which do not suffer from the memory effect.

Keep the ASUS Laptop Battery Clean – It’s a good idea to clean dirty battery contacts with a cotton swab and alcohol. This helps maintain a good connection between the battery and the portable device.

Exercise the Battery – Do not leave the battery dormant for long periods of time. We recommend using the battery at least once every two to three weeks. If an Laptop Battery has not been used for a long period of time, perform the new battery break in procedure described above.

Battery Storage – If you don’t plan on using the Laptop Battery for a month or more, store it in a clean, dry, cool place away from heat and metal objects. NiCad, Ni-MH and Li-ion batteries will self-discharge during storage; remember to recharge the batteries before use.

What is The Run Time of Battery-Company.com.au’s Laptop Battery?

ASUS Laptop Battery have two main ratings on them: Volts and Amperes. Because size and weight of Laptop Battery is limited when compared to larger batteries such as car batteries, most companies show their ratings with Volts and Mill amperes. One thousand Mill amperes equals 1 Ampere. When buying a battery, select batteries with the most Mill amperes (or mAh). Batteries are also rated by Watt-Hours, perhaps the simplest rating of all. This is found by multiplying the Volts and the Amperes together. For example:

14.4 Volts, 4000mAh (Note: 4000mAh is equal to 4.0 Amperes).

    14.4 x 4.0 = 57.60 Watt-Hours

Watt-Hours signify the energy needed to power one watt for one hour. This ASUS Laptop Battery can power 57.60 watts for one hour. If your laptop runs at 20.50 watts, as an example, this laptop battery could power your laptop for 2.8 hours.

In the 21st century, many high school students are using advanced technology as a way in which to boost the curriculum learned in school. For many high school students, the use of a laptop provides for some degree in freedom to the extent students can log on and check grades, check email for supportive educational information and even work on social networking.

If you are a parent who is considering the purchase of a laptop for the high school student in your family, it is important to consider the degree of support and technical assistance your child may require. While some teachers now permit the use of laptops in class, the technical support will be key to making your child's use of the technology a success.

Once the technology support is in place, you will find that your teen will enjoy their educational and high school social experience far better than had they not owned the laptop. In fact, many students report that with laptop use in the classroom they find their attention is not lost and they are engaged in more interactive lesson plans. While the transition to the laptop may be slow in the beginning, many students report they became well versed in their use within just a few days.

Students who generally do not achieve well in math, science and English often report they achieve higher grades and are more motivated to complete full assignments when they can utilize a laptop in class. Storing important notes and assignments, students are generally disorganized or forgetful, as in the ADHD student, commonly experience a vast improvement in their organization skills, ultimately achieving greater academic success.

As we continue to evolve as a society that relies heavily upon technology, our children, within the educational setting, can no longer achieve academic success without some type of access. With laptop use, you can expect that your child will become more organized, motivated and improve their academic skills. In addition, by using laptops and software programs early in high school, your teen will gain the experience sought by many employers.

When considering laptop purchase for your teen, look to operating systems and software programs that will enable your child to achieve optimal academic success. With the latest in technology, laptops purchased from Dell, Gateway and Apple provide the best opportunity for formatting the system based on what your child's specific educational needs may be. Without a laptop for school use, your teen may fall behind the advances in technology and fail to keep abreast of the latest tools and resources that will be used in their professional and college experiences.

I just got this and the first thing I noticed was the bright pink cotton candy color. It’s ok but not fantastic. Kind of looks like cheap Barbie doll plastic pink. It’s glossy but will probably be prone to scratching. The pearly sheen of my older one helped hide little scratches. Also, the pink on the inside does not match (at all) the outside pink. Totally different color palette. Kind of irritating actually. The inside pink is more peachy light pink than true pink.

I had the VGN series up til last week. It was a beautiful pearly pink color, had a slider bar for volume and backlight – loved it! Unfortunately, that one was a lemon and had too many problems to fix. They sent me this one as a replacement. I wish I had my other back, problems and all. The more I look at it the more irritated I become. What color blind person designed this? Why they took that slider bar feature away I have no idea. Stupid actually. That was a great feature that I used everyday. My older one also had a taller screen. This one feels shorter and stretched out. It’s lightweight which is nice but I am missing my other one.

Windows 7 is Windows 7 – it’s fine. It works. It’s updated. Nothing more to say about that.

Whatever, I am stuck with this I guess. My recommendation? Don’t bother with this one. Spend the extra money and get the 2010 version.

How to Troubleshoot an Acer Laptop Mouse

Net Books are the newest breed of portable computers, they are much smaller then an average Notebook computer, and they are far more energy efficient and so have to ability to be portable for longer periods of time. The original Net Book was the Asus EEE PC; this was revolutionary not only in its affordable price but also its stellar portable size.

However the EEE PC did have several drawbacks, such as a Linux only operating system and lack luster storage space. That was back in 2007, and now there are many exceptional Net Book computers to choose from that have more memory, stronger processors, and more storage space.

The newest entrant into the growing Net Book market is the Acer Aspire One 8.9-inch Mini Laptop; this choice has a large internal hard drive, sufficient memory, and a bigger brighter screen. All of these aspects combine to create an exceptional Net Book for the business traveler or a college student, who constantly travels around.

Processing power is important, so naturally you'll need the latest processor to successfully complete most computing tasks. Luckily the Acer Aspire One is powered by the latest Intel Atom, which is a brand new ultra-mobile processor. If you are self conscious about energy conservation you'll be happy to know that the Atom processor uses less than 1/10 of the 35 watts used by a traditional Intel Core 2 Duo, which allows the Acer Aspire One to exhibit exceptional battery life.

Storage space is derived from a 160 GB hard disk drive (5400 RPM), which are far more space then a comparable EEE PC model. With all this storage space you'll be able to store tons of music, applications, digital pictures, and digital movies. This hard drive is also (SATA) which means that it is much faster then a Serial ATA drive, and much faster then comparable Firewire.

Memory is also enhanced over comparable Net Book PCs, with 1 GB of installed RAM. This amount of memory will greatly enhance your ability to utilize the latest computer applications include memory hogging software suites such as Adobe Photoshop and the Microsoft Office suite. As with most portable computers, Net Books are also expandable and you can expand the Acer Aspire One to maximum memory of 1.5 GB.

In terms of connectivity the Acer Aspire One is exceptional, boasting 3 USB 2.0 ports for connecting various peripherals. A Secure Digital (SD) card reader for extending the internal storage space and a Multi-in-one card reader supports SD, MMC, Memory Stick/Memory Stick PRO, and XD Picture Cards. There is also a VGA monitor port, which can be used to connect an external monitor if you want more real estate on screen.

Unfortunately there isn't a modem built into the Aspire One, but there is a RJ-45 port for 10/100 Fast Ethernet connection, in case you don't have a wireless internet connection available. The Aspire One also boasts an exceptional WSVGA resolution (1024 x 600), on its bright and beautiful 8.9-inch screen, with CrystalBrite Technology that promises an improved picture quality.

Inside the box the Acer Aspire One comes with a rechargeable 6-cell lithium-ion battery, and AC adapter. This Net Book is ready to be used right out of the box and it's extremely simple to setup, so there won't be any headaches where the Aspire One is concerned.

Simply put, the Acer Aspire One Net Book PC is an exceptional bargain for anyone who wants one of the lightest portable computers ever built, but at the same time doesn't want to give up functionality or a windows operating system.

    Vintage Notebook

    6:40 am

    Crafts, Paper Crafts, Projects, Scrapbooking

By Recycled Crafts Contributor, Anitra from the blog “Coffee Pot People”.

I like to keep little notebooks around to capture inspiration when it strikes me.  I like to use notebooks like the one above for magazine clippings, color chips, photos or any other ideas.  This one fits neatly in my purse, and I can pop it out to record what I see for future art projects.  If you don’t have an inspiration journal, make one!  You’ll find they come very much in handy when you have an inspiration block.

To make, you’ll need to gather these supplies:

    Paper Mache Book

    Making Memories Vintage Findings Embellishments

Paper Accents Cardstock – 1 sheet Splash

ColorMates Cardstock – 1 sheet Smooth Ice Dust

Coredinations Cardstock – 1 sheet Vintage Sun Coral

    Mod Podge Gloss

    Paper Flowers – 2 coordinating

    Buttons – 7 coordinating

Die cut machine, punch or scissors – whatever you have to make shapes

    Clear “Bird Sing” stamp

    Colorbox Brown Ink

    Craft Glue

    Flat Paint Brush

    Scissors or Craft Knife

    Ruler

    Pencil

Take a sheet of cardstock and cut it to the size that will fit the front of your notebook.

Coat the front cover of your notebook with a medium layer of Mod Podge – don’t forget to cover the corners well since they are the first to dry.

Smooth your cardstock down thoroughly onto the front cover of your notebook.  You can see that I use a brayer – your hands work too, but just make sure to smooth *really* well.  Allow to dry for 15 – 20 minutes.

After the cover has dried, you are now ready to coat the top.  Give it a medium layer of Mod Podge and completely cover the front (don’t Mod Podge the inside or your pages will stick).  Allow to dry for 15 – 20 minutes.

Start adding embellishments with Mod Podge to the front of your notebook.  I always do the Mod Podge items first.  Allow to dry for 15 – 20 minutes between layers.

Lately I’ve really been enjoying clear stamps, so I used one to make an embellishment for the front of my notebook.  You’ll see that I have a small bird stamp and used brown ink on the Ice Dust cardstock.  Cut out and Mod Podge to the front of the notebook.  I also cut out my name from the Sun Coral cardstock with letter punches and then Mod Podged those to the front (please return to me!).

Use your craft glue to adhere coordinating buttons, paper flowers and whatever other embellishments float your boat.  Allow your notebook to dry for 24 hours before using.  Also consider sealing with a clear acrylic sealer if your notebook is going to touch other items in your bag or purse.  Mod Podge can get sticky, especially when hot and you want to make sure it doesn’t get damaged.

Most of the security software that you are referring to is included with most software that is titled Internet Security. Anti-virus keeps viruses off of your PC. Security Center(s) notify you of any threats, as well as monitor your other security software. Anti-Spyware keeps spyware off of your PC. Firewalls will block requests to your PC from unknown sources, as well as prevent unknown applications from accessing the Internet, which helps to prevent hackers.

As one other answerer has stated, Kaspersky Internet Security 2009 is a great software that includes all of these features. I would recommend it for your use, however I would recommend buying it as a cracked version may already have security threats built into it.
